It was a beautiful afternoon unnaturally sunny and warm for winter time, it was feeling like early new-leaf. Birch strike had taken to patrolling the rogue lands to make sure none of the rogues and loners were causing any trouble. One time while searching for a rogue who had been trespassing she had met a tom-cat by the name of Wolfclaw she wouldn't have minded seeing him again as he was nice, funny and someone she might be able to use as a spy. Birch strike smelled the faint scent of a rogue tom but he had likely been gone for days and even if he wasn't it didn't matter as long as he kept to himself. She was nearing the Pebbleclan border she just hoped a patrol wouldn't bother her, they had no reason to but patrols were always quiet hostile. She sat down giving her chest a few quick licks, it wasn't dirty but she had quite a habit of grooming herself very often, her pelt was always soft and never the slightest bit dirty. Today the she-cat had been assigned to border patrol. She had been feeling cooped up in the camp and was happy to leave. She was assigned to a bunch of cats not familiar to her, so while they struck up idle conversation Ivycloud went to her thoughts. The patrol was relatively uninteresting, only coming across scents that had been faded by time. Nothing of importance to note. They were nearly halfway done when Ivycloud broke off from the group, just to check a particular area alone.
Her dainty paws traversed over the terrain, hopping from stone to stone. The area she found herself in at first glance seemed to be alright. Her nose knew better however. She scented a she-cat, the smell being quite strong meaning they had been here not too long ago. She continued on until she spotted a she-cat, sittinf down and grooming herself. The Pebbleclan molly immediately tensed up, becoming alert. The foreign molly had a clean coat, made up of light gray and tabby markings. Her fur was beautiful, it made her slightly jealous. As Ivycloud drifted closer, now in front of her, it was apparent she wasn’t a rogue. Her scent was different, she skews like a clan cat.
“You seem lost. Are you aware of how close you are to Pebbleclans borders?” She evened our her voice, holding her head up high. The clan cat was larger than her in height and weight. If it came to a fight, she was already at a disadvantage. “Who are you? Where are you from?” Her large green eyes stayed concentrated on the stranger.

As Birchstrike sat grooming herself she heard something. She looked up seeing a dainty she-cat. Her fur was rougher looking than hers not to say it wasn't nice. She had large green eyes that reminded her of the summer grass. "I am. I'm here on Dogclan business making sure rogues don't make any trouble for any of the clans, it's a rather boring dut but it's necessary." she said in her usual seductive creamy tone, usually she reserved it for toms but there was just something about her...Birchstrike recognized this cat from gatherings but she didn't know her name. "I'm Birchstrike Deputy of Dogclan." she said casually. If anyone had heard of her they would be highly aware of how flirtatious she was after all that was something she was known for, that and her exquisite beauty. She examined the she-cat she was smaller than most warriors but definitely not an apprentice likely a young warrior that's just small. She was a cute looking she-cat the kind all the young toms would fawn over. Of course many cats crushed on Birchstrike but she tried very hard to make this happen and it was cats of all ages. Ah. So she was a Dogclan cat. Her name was Birchstrike, claiming to a deputy of the clan. Ivycloud may have seen her at one of the past gatherings but truthfully, she never paid much attention to the other clan cats. She would make note to do so in the future. The way the she-cat spoke had Ivycloud feeling a lot calmer about the situation. She calmed down, relaxing but still keeping her guard up incase the Dogclan deputy tried anything.
"There's been signs of a rogue or two around here but they're long gone..." Her voice trailed off. Ivycloud found herself staring. She quickly turned her head, keeping Birchstrike in the corner of her eyes. "I'm uh.. Ivycloud." She stammered. The she-cat could feel her skin getting hotter under her fur, a sign of embarrassment despite the cold weather. She shook off, whatever that was and did her best to regather her confidence. She wanted to talk with the she-cat more. "You've traveled quite aways from your territory Birchstrike. I hope it hasn't been in vain."
Ivycloud took the chance to truly look her up and down. She didn't think she's ever seen a clan cat quite like Birchstrike. She'd definitely remember if she did. She looked out of place in the wild, much too beautiful to be within the harshness of clan life. She seemed to fit the kittypet lifestyle more. God. Those blue eyes. Ivycloud grew hot again and looked away, past Birchstrike, there had to be something more interesting out there. Nope.

She smiled sweetly at the she-cat as she saw her relax. "Yes I know, about a moon ago a patrol and I chased a rather troublesome tom out." She watched as the small she-cat became all flustered, this often happened with toms but when it happened with them all she got was the small satisfaction of knowing she had power over them. The way the she-cat looked at her made blood rush to her face. What is this? She thought to herself. She had felt this way towards some toms she was mates with briefly. As the name left the she-cat's tongue it echoed through her head. Ivycloud it was such a beautiful and soft sounding name unlike the harsh rough sound of her's.
"Seems not, afterall you're here." she said. Maybe she'd be able to get Ivycloud to help her patrol, afterall it was beneficial to all the clans to keep the rogues in check and it was neutral territory so they wouldn't be breaking the code...Cats were allowed to have friends in other clans there were no rules against it. So what was the harm in talking to her every once in awhile?

Birchstrike’s last sentence towards Ivycloud made the she-cats brain fizzle. Seems not. After all you’re here. She could tell this was the beginning of something bad. Ivycloud has regained her composure only to loose it again. It seemed as if Birchstrike wasn’t leaving anything soon, more than likely needing to continue on her patrol of the lands.
Where they were at was neutral land, rogues and liners of the sorts often made their homes here. Many of them venturing too close to the borders for comfort however. Since the two of them were patrolling and looking for the same thing it’d only be right to do it together. Right? Right. Besides Birchstrike has already proven herself to be more interesting than her patrolmates.
Ivycloud hopped down so that she was even with the Dogclan she-cat. She was a little nervous to ask but did so. “Well, Birchstrike, would you like me to keep you company?” The words left her mouth and she immediately regretted it. Her tail swished behind her as she quickly tried to clarify her question. “Patrolling! We’re going to patrol this territory, we may as well do it together. Two heads are better than one and all that. It’ll be faster and we’ll cover a lot more ground together. And the off chance we encounter someone or something we can fend them off. It’s simply just logical-“ She closed her mouth and flattened her ears against her head, embarrassed as she awaited an answer. If Ivycloud got rejected she’d simply carry on her way, though she could tell her heart would be broken and the Dogclan deputy wouldn’t be leave her mind for a few days. Or ever. Emotions are a curse. A confusing curse. Just when Ivycloud thought she had herself figure down out, here popped this gorgeous she-cat to expose her.

Birchstrike smiled. "Y-yeah of course!" she said, it certainly make her patrol more enjoyable. "Maybe you could help me with these patrols all the time. After all I think all the clans would appreciate us keeping the rogues in check." she said with a purr. Birchstrike looked at Ivycloud...so pretty...She wondered what Starclan would think of them doing this, it was fine according to the code. "Let's get going now." She said getting up brushing her tail against Ivycloud's face as she walked. "A lot of the rogues stay closer into the territory, likely not wanting to run into clan cats." She had heard kitty pets, rogues and loners talking about the clans in hushed voices as if a bunch of them would jump out if they said something wrong. She hadn't seen a non-clan cat in forever since they tended to avoid them. Word Count: 146 Notes: - Tags: nine

"Maybe you could help me with these patrols all the time. After all I think all the clans would appreciate us keeping the rogues in check." Ivycloud had to admit that the statement made her heart skip a beat. She immediately nodded, agreeing. She'd made a note to volunteer for patrols more if it meant seeing the she-cat everytime. She wasn't expecting a very fluffy tail to find its way across her face, she blinked in surprise, stilling. The Pebbleclan warrior had to snap out of it as she saw Birchstrike walking away. She quickly caught up with her, joining the Dogclan deputy at her side.
"It's been even more stressful lately. With this season and the lack of prey. Some of them fear us but there are others who are quite bold." The winter had just left them but it didn't mean that there would be a sudden influx of prey and herbs. "Luckily we haven't had too much trouble, just yet. How is Dogclan faring out?" She stayed close to Birchstrike, her small frame nearly smothered by the other. Tentatively she brushed against her flank.

Birch strike smiled. "Yes, lack of prey always proves troublesome for the clans, but I'd rather have lack of prey than those twolegs wandering around killing cats." She said, with a frown, there were many cats that all the clans have lost to two legs during Green-leaf. "We are faring quite well, there is enough prey to sustain us and we haven't lost anyone to the cold or hunger yet," She said with a smile, she expected cats to die at least a few kits. "but that's what I'm supposed to say." although if that wasn't true she felt like she couldn't lie to the she-cat she'd feel guilty she looked...so sweet...and innocent. We're patrolling not chatting, I'm getting distracted. They needed to look out for rogues, if they stayed in the deeper part of the forest it was fine but activity near the borders always raised suspicions. Birchstrike had heard stories of rogue groups invading clans before but they were just faded tales, many details lost or distorted due to time. With Ivycloud and her patrolling the clans should be safe since they could easily report rogue activity before it got out of hand. Word Count: 197 Notes: - Tags: nine

The molly's words bothered her. The mere mention of the twolegs brought a chill to her spine. Over the past few seasons it seemed the clans were losing more cats from twolegs than from any disease or starvation. As Birchstrike stopped speaking, Ivycloud turned to look at her. She couldn't imagine the burden that fell upon the deputy. "You can be honest with me. Who am I going to tell?" She huffed and turned her eyes toward the path ahead.
The forest began to grow thicker, this was always a trouble area for them. There was a lot of trees and underbrush, old fox dens that made good shelter. Perfect place for a rogue or many to make their home. Ivycloud made sure to keep herself alert. "The last rogue we encountered was here. By the time we got his scent he was long gone. This is where we need to be the most cautious as well as near the borders but- later." There was a mix of smells coming through to her, all scents typical of the forest. "I'm counting on you Birchstrike." She grinned to the other she-cat before padding ahead.
Ivycloud paused as she heard a rustling among the underbrush a few yards away from her. She looked back towards Birchstrike, asking silently for the she-cat to catch up to her so they could investigate together. It was more than likely some prey that managed to sneak past Ivycloud's nose but she just wanted to be sure.

Birchstrike shrugged. "No one, I was just pointing out that you have no reason to believe me when I say we are faring well." It was the kind of question that was more a polite thing to say than an actual question kind of like asking 'How are you doing?' as there is a expected response 'Good' or 'Fine'. To Birchstrike it seemed that she wasn't the kind of cat to ask those sorts of silly questions with non-answers but nor was she. "They seem to do that, they would know that we would find them if they got too close and likely were here because they needed to be." If she was a rogue she'd do the same thing after all a rogue wouldn't stand a chance against a small patrol of warriors and they likely knew that. "If they knew what's good for them they'd never come near the border." She said with a grumble. Birchstrike realized she had let her guard down, even around cats in her clan she put on a faux persona of the flirtatious and beautiful she-cat who was completely sure of herself all the time and very charismatic and a great deputy. Ivycloud seemed to melt that mask away along with the walls she had built without even trying, as she looked into her eyes she could feel her heart beating in her chest. This is wrong...She's Pebbleclan... it was hard not to picture Ivycloud and her laying under the stars and telling each other secrets that would only be theirs to share. Nothing wrong with being friends with her. That's all they would ever be, she tried to convince herself that she wouldn't ever want to be her mate even if the opportunity arose but deep down it was still there a feeling, a fantasy that she couldn't push away. Ivycloud could tell Birchstrike’s mind was off, far-away in thought. The she-cat must have not heard her. Ivycloud was about to repeat herself when the bushes rustled again, this time a small furry creature shootingout to cross the path. It was just a shrew but the commotion caught her off guard. She let out a surprised noise and quickly went to the Dogclan she-cats side. Her fur bristled up, sticking in every direction.
Her heart was beating as she nestled close to her. She couldn’t tell if it was adrenaline being pumped through her after being scared like that or if it was because.. If she was honest with herself she’d say Birchstrike was beautiful. Gorgeous beyond her imagination. There seemed to be some connection between the two. Ivycloud never made friends as quickly and easily. Talking with the she-cat was natural, when Ivycloud wasn’t focusing on her good-looks. It was a new feeling to her, something she’d only felt once before long ago with a tom she couldn’t remember. Nothing came of it of course. She doesn’t even think they talked.
Ivycloud moved away, keeping a short distance between their bodies. She instantly missed the warmth and softness. Tentatively her tail reached out and stroked the flank of Birchstrike. “Sorry about that.. I’m a trained warrior don’t worry. This isn’t the first time I’ve been caught off guard by a rodent.” She didn’t sound at all apologetic, a sly grin spread to her lips. “I was too busy focused on you because it seems like somethings on your mind.”
There was a break of quietness before Ivycloud spoke again. “If I’m going to be honest something’s on my mind too. I’m a little- distracted. Maybe I’ll tell you if you tell me? Just so- you know.. no more distractions.” Honestly she had a feeling that even if she told Birchstrike exactly what wasn’t on her mind, there was no way she’d be able to focus on a patrol. “I’ll go first. I think.. I’m not sure what’d you call this it’s a confusing situation for me. But there’s this cat. I think I fancy them and it’s all I can focus on. I’m figuring things out. With myself. This sort of thing hasn’t never happened before you know?”

Birchstrike giggles when she saw Ivycloud frightened by the mouse. She felt her leaning against her, her fur was warm she felt like a claw had pierced her heart as she looked down at her. Maybe this wasn't wrong? Afterall she had never heard of two mollies being mates so it must be a bit different. She wondered why she had never heard of two mollies being together...Maybe they were the only ones to ever yearn for another she. She knew Ivycloud felt it as well, the way she looked at her like she was the most magnificent thing she had ever seen, how her fur felt like a hot greenleaf's day. She hoped it'd take a long time for them to finish patrolling. “I was too busy focused on you because it seems like something's on your mind.” Birchstrike blushed. "Seems like we both do," she said with a coy smile. “If I’m going, to be honest, something’s on my mind too. I’m a little- distracted. Maybe I’ll tell you if you tell me? Just so- you know... no more distractions.” Birchstrike nodded, it seemed fair enough and she wanted to hear her troubles and comfort her if she could. "I think you should tell them then. That's what's on my mind as well." she purred, "You're on my mind."Word Count: 226 Notes: - Tags: nine

"You're on my mind." Ivycloud was glad that Birchstrike was the more outspoken one. Being around the Dogclan deputy made Ivycloud loose all of her strong personality. The words seemed to flow from her mouth with ease. The smaller she-cat felt as if the butterflies in her stomach were released. Ah, so she feels the same. Ivycloud let out a sigh of relief. Over their heads, the trees rustled with a gust of wind. "Glad to know we're on the same page then." She hummed, rubbing her cheek against Birchstrike's. "There's something that's still bothering me though."
It was good to know the attraction had been mutual but there was a problem. Quite a large problem. The two mollies were from different clans. Birchstrike was a deputy and Ivycloud was a tiny Pebbleclan warrior. The horrors they would face if anyone would find out... she didn't want to imagine it. "We have to keep this a secret." She sighed, taking a few steps before sitting down, her tail lashing out behind her. "Goodness. I've never had the eyes for a molly and now that I do, she just so happens to be from a different clan." It didn't mean Ivycloud was simply going to give up. It wasn't in her blood to give in so easily. "I'm willing to make this work if you are Birchstrike." Her greens eyes turned to stare into Birchstrike's blues. "No matter what we won't let anything come between us. Ugh that sounds- cheesy. You know what I mean right?"
This had to have happened before. There had to have been cats in their position. Tied into a forbidden romance. They must have found a way to make things work. Secrets meetings, running away together something like that. So long as it doesn't end in tragedy. "Of course I don't want to put you in danger but I'd like to see you again. In different circumstances other than patrol."
