Dogstar and The Founding of Dogclan
Dog was a slender, energetic black and white tom born to an ex rogue named Thomas and a feisty she-cat named Bird. His littermates were a mostly grey tom called Wolf, and a silver tabby tom named Storm. Dog and Storm were almost inseparable, whereas Wolf was more of a loner, preferring to keep to himself. That’s not to say he didn’t care for his troublemaking brothers, he just showed it in a different way.
When Moortail died and Frostfeather began to become poorly, fighting broke out. It was Dog who suggested they move on to the moor, keeping clan traditions. None listened, and when the other clans began to form, he kept his mind set on a clan among the moor. After all of his family had left, he finally decided to form DogClan. Storm and Wolf trailed alongside him, as well as Storm’s mate, a tortoiseshell kittypet named Candle.
Much to Storm’s anger, Dogstar appointed Wolf as his deputy, renaming him Wolfheart. He renamed the other close family members as Stormfang and Candlenose. Stormfang began to grow apart from Dogstar, the pair becoming cold towards one another. The final nail in the coffin was whenever Candlenose gave birth to four kits. A pretty calico tom, a carbon copy she-cat of Dogstar, a little red tom-cat, and a tiny tortoiseshell she-cat without a left hind leg. In a fit of rage, Stormfang attacked his brother. The kits couldn’t have been his. Dogstar fended his brother off, and then Stormfang staled off in a rage. The next morning, Candlenose was found dead, with the kits still beside her. They were covered in their mother’s blood, and Stormfang was nowhere to be found. The ginger tabby tom-kit had frozen to death in the night.
Dogstar was determined to keep his remaining children alive. He named them Petalkit, Badgerkit, and Duskkit respectively. It was Dogstar who dealt with the clan’s first hunting season. Unable to hide from the twolegs and their firesticks, his clan was damaged much worse than the rest, but they came back just as resilient. They shared valuable techniques of stealth with the clans, teaching them when hunters were more likely to strike.
One day, several moons later, Dogstar was on a patrol with two of his kits -- Badgerstrike and Duskpatch -- when his long lost brother was discovered. He attacked, stealing Dogstar’s final life, only to be killed by his nieces. Wolfstar became leader of DogClan as he knew he was meant to. It was in this time that Acornstar waged war upon them. Wolfstar was too mild-mannered to win as he was meant to, and many cats called for his removal. He willingly gave up his position and his nine lives, allowing his deputy to take over after him.
